1. What is an OTG adapter?OTG: is On-The-Go.
Announced by the USB Standardization Organization on Dec 18, 2001, it is mainly used for the connection between different devices or mobile devices for data exchange.
OTG improved Pad(tablet computer), mobile phone and consumer equipment. Change the inconvenience caused by the data exchange between memory cards of up to 7 standards, such as digital cameras, camcorders, printers, and other equipment.
OTG began to spread in the market around 2014.
2. Background of OTG:
The development of USB technology enables PCs and peripheral devices to connect devices with various data transmission speeds in a simple way and at a moderate manufacturing cost. The applications we mentioned above are all connected to the PC via USB and exchange data under the control of the PC.
But this convenient way of exchange, once you leave the PC, each device cannot use the USB port to operate, because no device can act as a host like a PC.
But OTG technology allows data transmission between devices without a host (host). For example, a digital camera is directly connected to the printer, and the USB port between the two devices is connected through OTG technology, and the photos taken are printed out immediately; the data in the simulation can also be sent to the mobile hard disk with the USB interface through OTG. Data transmission can be achieved very well.
3. OTG classification:
According to the protocol to which the USB interface belongs, OTG can be divided into 4 categories:
* USB2.0 OTG
Micro 5PIN OTG: OTG interface of common Android phones
Mini 5PIN OTG: OTG interface for common Android tablets
* Micro USB3.0 OTG:
Samsung Note3, Galaxy S5 and other Android phones before 2016 OTG interface
* Type C OTG:
See the OTG interface of Samsung Note 8, Galaxy S8, Huawei and other Android phones after 2016
* Lightning OTG: OTG for Apple mobile phones.
